Stephanie Ujhelyi has been breeding persian kitties as a hobby for more than 15 years near Youngstown, Ohio, with a combination of holistic and homeopathic medicine. She specialize in smoke bicolors, particularly cameo tabbies with white.
Many of Purrshinka's sires and dams are descended down from Paula Ujhelyi's breeding program. Paula, Stephanie's mother, bred solid and bicolor Persians under the cattery prefix, Whiskers Inn, until her death in July 2006.
Stephanie began breeding in 1990, starting out with smokes and tabbies. With beautiful additions
from Mockingbird and Happypurrs (Thanks, Lee Harper and Sharon Byrwa), Purrshinka quickly developed its own unique look.
Raised
underfoot (she has the bruises to prove it),
our kitties have it all — looks, disposition
and genetics. It is Stephanie's utmost goal to place kitties
locally in noncaged homes whenever possible.
Kittens are available to select homes only! We are tremendously
picky on where all our kitties go, rather they
be moving to pet, breeder or show homes
Although Stephanie took a break from breeding after her parents' deaths, she has restarted her efforts - thanks to a familiar face, Sharon Byrwa of Happypurrs and a not-so-pitbull with lipstick girl "Palin," and a few new friends, Lisa Smith and Jerry Hamza of Catillak and Jubileum, who blessed us with precious "Blue."
It is Stephanie's belief that her parents, especially Paula, would be thrilled with new arrivals (Paula loved her Happypurrs cat, Chyna, and was a great admirer of the Catillak-Jubileum look for many years). It is exciting to envision the results of combining Paula's lines with those from Dayoh Fade to Black, who was acquired before Paula's death.
Although most of Purrshinka's cats are PKD DNA1 negative, Purrshinka still is in the process of salvaging a few of our lines from special cats.
Part of Purrshinka's revitalized enthusiasm is due to Stephanie's involvement in a new project.
Stephanie, along with Cathy Scarbrough of Carictor, is part of Lanyap Publications, LLC., which publishes "The Long & The Short of It," a full-color, quarterly publication for Persian and Exotic breeders. The publication is entering its sophomore year.
Her day job is as a crime and government reporter for The Alliance Review.
