Stephanie Ujhelyi has been breeding persian kitties as a hobby for more than 15 years near Youngstown, Ohio. We try to raise our kitties as naturally as possible, meaning feeding a combination of dry food and raw
meat diet. We also believe in minimal vaccinations
and using homeopathic remedies in lieu of
antibiotics whenever possible.
This doesn't
mean that our cats aren't treated using traditional
veterinary means when the need arises. It
does means that rarely they need to be because
of this approach; however, we are not naive
enough to think holistic and homeopathic medicine
OR traditional veterinary medicine is the
only way to go when caring for one's furry
children.
What's in a name?
Many people ask us about our cattery name, Purrshinka. PUSHINKA is"Fluffy" in Russian. The name of a dog given to President John F. Kennedy's daughter, Caroline, by then-Premier Nikita Khrushchevof the Soviet Union. Purrshinka is our "cat-related" twist on that. Ironically, Pushinka was a mixed-breed puppy. Pushinka's mother, Strelka, was one of the Russian dogs that traveled to space and back. Pushinka was one of six post-space puppies in Strelka's litter.

Purrshinka specializes in smoke bicolors.
and are now branching off into whites. Although our intrigue with the cameo tabby and white continue, we are hoping to get odd-eyed bicolors and whites.
We just recently returned to the roots of my mom Paula, who passed away in July 2006, and my sister Tracy. They operated the cattery, Whiskers Inn, starting in whites more than a decade ago. Many of my mother's adult kitties will be put up for adoption.
Stephanie began breeding in 1990, starting out with smokes and tabbies. With beautiful additions
from Mockingbird and Happypurrs (Thanks, Lee and Sharon), we quickly developed our own unique look.
We just recently added new kitties from Castlegate (Barmont, Fanfair, Raisis); Dainty Dolls (Kitty Charm, Johnorah, Tehy); DayOh (Wishstar, Catillak, Purrfectgems); and Johnorah (Scrimshaw, Boberan, Agonistes).
We specialize in cameo tabbies and white (as we always say "Think Pink." Shown at right is CH Purrshinka Precious Moments as a kitten. Precious is one of our favorites. She is a red mackerel cameo tabby and white.
Raised
underfoot (we have the bruises to prove it),
our kitties have it all — looks, disposition
and genetics. It is our utmost goal to place kitties
locally in noncaged homes whenever possible. Kittens are available to select homes only! We are tremendously
picky on where all our kitties go, rather they
be moving to pet, breeder or show homes.
We are PKD DNA testing our kitties. Cats that are negative will state so. We are in the process of still salvaging our lines, so the kitties of unknown status will not state anything.
We are proud members of several cat clubs in CFA and TICA.
We have website awards. Here are some of the sites and breeders that are past winners.
